Cirencester College student Jess Cheape is taking part in a pioneering apprenticeship scheme with the media department at the College while working for Twigworth based digital production company, The Giggle Group

Jess, from Gloucester, made the most of the opportunity when the Managing Director of The Giggle Group announced that he was looking for an apprentice. She said: “I felt that I wanted an apprenticeship rather than studying a degree because I wanted to start working in a real business now”. She now works on a wide range of tasks ranging from updating the website to assisting on SFX location shoots.

Cirencester College provides the training element of Jess’ qualification and its staff will work with her over the next year, more often at the workplace than the classroom.

Andy Freedman, Cirencester College’s head of media and GMG board member said: “The training Jess receives will directly relate to her role in the company and she will be able to bring new skills and fresh ideas to her employers. She will get masterclass training in things like graphics and interactive media. There is a thriving media sector in the county and this is a pilot scheme”.
